John Wycliffe, although a Yorkshireman by birth, spent most of his life in Lutterworth in Leicester. He is famous for translating the bible from Latin into English. He actually did this in his home in Lutterworth in the South of Leicestershire. The Wycliffe Bible was the first bible that was readable by people who didn’t understand the Latin Language. The bible is still in use today, with only a few minor changes.
