Loughborough, a large town North of Leicester, lies on the A6, an early Turnpike road.

Picture  Description

Loughborough Grammar School. The design is loosely based on Hampton Court near London. Although the School is over 500 years old, it moved to its present site in 1851, when the mock-Tudor main building was built. This is the view from the Front (the A6). The small niche at the top was built to hold a statue.

The School Crest, shown here on the gate, is that of Ralph Leamington, a medieval wool merchant from Loughborough, despite the fact the the school was founded by Thomas Burton.

More pictures of Loughborough will be added soon!
